Deacon Jorge Morales was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. He graduated as a civil and environmental engineer from the University of Puerto Rico. In 1998, he met Glorimar “Glory” Iglesias, they have five children: Patricia, Jorge Kike, Daniela, Valeria, and Victoria.
Deacon Jorge began serving as an altar server at a young age and later as an Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Communion (EM). This was a ministry he enjoyed and shared the experience with his children visiting elderly people and taking holy communion to them. In 2009, Jorge and Glory became members of a family catholic spiritual movement named the Schoenstatt Family. The movement's goal is to unite faith with daily life and to live as witnesses of Christ . Their involvement connected them with other passionately Catholic families who gathered regularly and inspire each other to build ‘Domestic Churches’ in the midst of the world. The experience was influential in growing a special love for our Blessed Mother. They created a family altar and named it The Holy Family.
Five years later, Deacon Jorge began the formation process for the Permanent Diaconate. He was ordained as Permanent Deacon in December 2019 in the Diocese of Arecibo Puerto Rico. In the same year, he accepted a job as an Engineer for a firm in Gainesville. With the help of Father Al, Bishop Daniel in Puerto Rico, and Bishop Felipe Estévez in St. Augustine, Deacon Jorge was approved to serve for the Diocese of St. Augustine. In May 2020 he was assigned to serve as a Permanent Deacon to Queen of Peace Catholic Community. Currently, he is the Chief of Engineering Projects at the Veterans Administration. He and his vivacious wife Glory, who works for the church, share the love of the Lord with others.
